Minecon

The Mojang Team officially announced the dates of the first Minecraft Convention (Minecon) which will be on November 18-19.
Because that is a Friday-Saturday event, Notch polled fans of the game and over 50,000 people cast their votes, and the results are in,  MineCon is happening a week later than planned.
The event will mark Minecraft's first full release and there will be a variety of contests including costumes and speed building.

Notch told PC Gamer "I'm really looking forward to getting up on stage and pressing the button to upload the final build."

The tickets cost 99$ (Without Food and Hotel) And the event Will take place at Mandalay Bay Hotel & Casino (Pictures Below)

Ticket sales will start Thursday, 11 August 2011 at 17:00 GMT. Good Luck!

Why Biker_Notch was removed from the team.

Some of you may have noticed that Biker is no longer in the header at the top of the site, and some may have seen the tweet that Zombie sent to him. He was removed because we want to have the best team we can, and because his posts didn't fit the general theme!

Yes i know it's ironic that I'M the one posting this. The whole Penumbra post thing is water under the bridge, and i was being an ass. I apologise for that.

Please do not get angry that Biker was removed, it was not SOLELY my decision to make, it was a team vote.

The basics of Minecraft server hosting!

So, a lot of you must play on SMP servers, but not many really fit your needs. You sometimes wonder to yourself how it would be if you had your very own server! Well, in this basic tutorial, you will learn just how to do the things you might not know how to do with server hosting!

Now, one thing you should know, having a home hosted Minecraft server is bad, but it's free. If you can afford a few bucks per month, you should definately check out some GSPs (Game Service Providers) They host the server for you, and some can even take care of it, etc. To find a GSP that suits your needs, use : http://www.bestminecrafthosts.com/top/

When you have a server and you are all set up, there is one last thing you should do. There are two types of servers, a "Vanilla" server which has no mods and is pure Minecraft and then "Bukkit" servers which have plugins that make it more fun, easier to handle etc.
If you want to host a Bukkit server, your game provider will let you choose between Vanilla and Bukkit, choose Bukkit.

Now you can go to http://plugins.bukkit.org/ and get all the plugins you like! Most of them have installation instructions. 90% of them just have you download a .jar, place it in your server's plugin folder, and voila! When you reload the server (/reload) it will generate the needed files! You're good to go!

Have fun!

Rivers In Minecraft

Notch posted on his google+ account that he is "Reworking the biome codewich will probably allow for rivers in minecraft. Sounds cool!

Interview With @Jeb_ (a.k.a Jens Bergensten)

We had an exclusive interview with Jeb from the Mojang Team. Here is the interview:

Do you receive lots of visits from fans at the office? If yes, how do you deal with them?

Yeah, there have been a couple of visits every week the recent months. Previously we guided them through the office and showed them some new Minecraft stuff, but it takes a lot of time so now we are unfortunately forced to stop people at the door.

How is it to work at Mojang, with Notch?

      It's great!

Do you plan to keep working on minecraft for a while after it's release, or start working on Scrolls?

I don't know yet... I think I will remain on Minecraft, but it depends on where my efforts are best needed.

Are there Secret Features you didn't talk about yet on the Adventure Update?

      Yep!

What do you think of minecraft, and all the work you have done?

Uhm... I think it's a great game. I tend to start charcoal industries whenever I play, heh. Can't say much about my own work, but I think the stuff I've added have been fitting nicely.

What are the future plans for minecraft?

To keep on adding more stuff!

Are you (Mojang Team) aware of the existance of the Faces of Notch, and the amount of popularity they have gained?

You mean the twitter accounts? I didn't know they were popular, most of them are not very clever. I'd wish to see more in-character posts from them.

    Is the cake a lie?

That's a question for Gabe Newell.

     Thanks for your time.

Minor Update

Jeb just tweeted that he's been given the task to continue developing Notch's villages.
He said the first thing he did was add a well to them.

While he does that, Notch will be reworking biomes and tweaking combat.

I'll update this thread if screenshots are posted.

Minecraft Experience And Permadeath

According to a recent article on PcGamer, the purpose for that mysterious bar has been revealed by Notch himself. It's purpose is an experience bar that shows your current level.

The purpose of the levels hasn't yet been revealed, but Notch also talked about losing all experience when dying and a good use for the experience orbs would be dropping them when you die, in the value of half of the experience you had.

Mobile options!

Hello to all you Android and/or iOS users!

There is one Minecraft like game on each of the two softwares. So you can keep gaming wherever you go!
The first one is on iOS (iPhone/iPod) and is called "Eden" on the appstore.
The second one is on Android and is called "Minebuilder" on the Android Market.
Both of these are great, but Minebuilder is the overall badass for mobile devices. It includes texture packs, day and night, crafting, monsters, dynamic light and more!
Have fun!
Note: You can import your saved games from your computer to both of the games, so you can continue your world wherever you go! (Until you are out of battery)

The new guy.

Aloha amigos... (Yes, those are the only two spanish words I comprehend)
I am known as Hawaiian_Notch or fofogogo23... Or Charles. I'm the new guy here at ZombieMinecraft, and I'm the only non-zombie... I'm sure that won't last long. *cries*.
All of that aside, I hope you all enjoy my posts :D (Don't fudge around with the new guy, it's mean!) And no, I am not Hawaiian in any shape or form... I enjoy Pasta. *Takes a bow*

Thank you very much. *Trips off the stage*

Notch is Getting Married!

Notch is going to marry Ez (@ezchili on twitter) this Saturday.
Of course, they will have an honeymoon, so notch will pause developing. But the rest of the mojang team will keep developing normally.

Our best wishes to Notch and Ez, let them be happy ever after!

New blogger

Hi, im a new blogger, I asked Zombie_Notch if i could contibute, so here i am: ZOMBIE_JEB!! I am here to expand Zombie Minecraft. And i might eat your brain, so watch out!

The feeling of minecraft

When I first started playing minecraft, I had the best experiences ever. I always wanted a game like this, where I could build my own house and have my own life.

Every new discovery was unique. Even seeing a chicken was extraordinary. Everything was random, but it was the same as if it was scripted to the littlest detail. Exploring a dungeon, building a tower on the top of a huge mountain, or even colecting resources was great to do!
But after playing for a long time, you realize you already know everything in the game and how it is boring to gather resources everytime you want to do something. Every pig is exactly the same and so do the other mobs. That's when you start realizing you are bored of minecraft. I do have been bored of minecraft. But there was some things that helped me getting the feeling of minecraft back:

  • Starting a new world / Destroying previous world
  • Get some plans for future creations
  • Think big: This will make you be occupied for longer
  • Delete the world everytime you die
  • Play on the hardest difficulty
  • Try SMP if you didn't before
  • If none of those worked, just take a week off minecraft.
You'll see that in no time you won't even look at a chicken the same way twice.

This is me, trying to help some of you get the feeling of minecraft back,
                      Zombie_Notch

Minecraft Documentary

Notch = Celine Dion

Notch tweeted about being forced to record a celine dion song. This is what came to my mind:

Airplanes in minecraft?

Notch just posted on his twitter account that he " just flew a plane! Or at least did a loop on his own".
We all know notch, and how much of a teaser he is. I think he's hiding something. Maybe planes will be added in 1.8? Or maybe Jeb is implementing the mod? Let's wait and see!

This is my house in minecraft:

What about yours? Leave a link to the image in the comments : )
It's late night. I'm bored. Time to write something : )
Let's talk about something very interesting: Minecraft 1.8!

People are getting really high expectations, so I think there's no better way to start this blog!
Let's go step by step!

- Enderman

This is the feature (if we can call it that way) That has raised more expectations from me. I can't wait to see one looking at me. And I'm also really curious about their mechanics (They can break / place blocks).
The creepiest mob I ever seen!

- Huge mushrooms

I'm really curious about their purpose. If not anything else, we can make roofs with the red one, and walls with the brown : )
They make me hungry!

- NPC Villages

Another very interesting feature in 1.8! I can't wait to steal those npc's, or maybe, work for them.

This update is epic. We all know about it. Let's wait, notch will for sure surprise us!
